Now that's what you call a Steak Flambe!
Would you believe me if I told you that it's under Php450?
Steaks and fine dining do not always have to be painfully expensive. With House of Minis' Pasig branch, their customers can enjoy both without breaking the bank!
Using a deep ladle brimming with soup, our bowls were generously graced with warm cream of mushroom soup. It was an unexpectedly huge serving of quality soup so our pampered stomachs began to look forward to our other side dishes.
The waiters must have sensed our enthusiasm since they quickly presented our salad and dinner rolls. Unlike the soup, the salad was served on a tiny platter with a ratio of 60% thick Thousand Island dressing and 40% vegetables. A salad this mediocre was then easily overshadowed by the soft and fluffy dinner rolls.
But like opening acts to a great concert, these side dishes paved the way then bowed down to the main stars of the meal, our glorious steaks!
RJ ordered their New York Cut steak, a strip steak cut from the T-bone portion. Strip steaks consist of a muscle that didn't work a lot during the cow's life, thus enabling a tender consistency.
With the table napkin held up, the waiter bathed the steak with a pool of gravy right before RJ. A sudden screen of smoke and crackling gravy splatters filled the air as the heat continued to sear the meat. Soon the plate's fiery temper mellowed down and RJ was able to cut through his steak with little effort. Though the medium rare New York Cut steak was highly succulent and wonderfully flavored with streaks of blood, it still needed a tap of pepper.

This fine dining steakhouse proudly shows off its Western style with wooden planks, cowboy displays and old jars tracing the entire place. Sparkling with an array of silverware, each table is fully lined and matched with cushioned wooden chairs. Completing the fine dining experience are fully dressed waiters, wonderfully attentive as ever.
It was my 3rd time in House of Minis so I was raring to see RJ's excitement over their reasonably priced set meals. For under Php450, all prime cuts are complete with their soup of the day, dinner rolls, salad and dessert! Where else can you get a better deal than that?

| Steak Flambe ala House of Minis w/ kamote fries and steamed vegetables (Php420) |
My Steak Flambe ala House of Minis employed an even grander entrance with its head turner flaming plate (see cover photo). I love watching flaming food, so my mouth was watering as I watched it flaunt its grandeur before me. After a quick gravy bath, my steak continued to impress me with its divine tenderness and slightly bloody interior. Yuuum bloody steaks! It was undeniably moist, juicy and cooked to perfection! Seriously, RJ's New York steak looked like an amateur next to this. It's one of the best steaks, if not the best, I've ever had! I'll come back for more. :)

After such a heavenly steak experience, RJ and I were ready to get our bill when the waiter served our tiny goblets of dark chocolate ice cream. We almost forgot about them! Though nothing extraordinary, these ice creams added a sweet ending to our hearty lunch. By the way, you can opt to have coffee instead of ice cream.
So for under Php800, we were able to enjoy two great steaks, complete with appetizers and dessert. Thank God for House of Minis since I promised RJ a free steak meal for accompanying me to the Butch Dalisay event in Shangri-La Mall's National Bookstore.
Valentine's Day doesn't have to equate to painful expenses. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to indulge in great steaks under a fine dining set up without cashing out too much. After all, Valentine's Day is really about expressing your love and not about the amount of money you put out.
Happy Valentine's Day! :)

Usually yung damage for really fine dining steaks = Php1000. Sa Steak Town in Shang mga Php600-800 per steak. Mahal talaga yung steaks in general dito sa Metro Manila. Kaya ang saya magroad trip to Subic papuntang Meat Plus!
Tumataba ako! Di na ako kasya sa pantalon ko. :P
I had a pre-Valentine's date with some girl friends para may excuse pa rin to eat in a fancy place. hahaha
How much ba usually ang steak?
nainggit na tuloy ako sayo, puro ka kain, pero mukhang d ka naman tumataba, unlike me. huhu :(
I wish my date din ako ths Valentine's so I can try this place out! ;) hehe
From what I remember from Sizzling Plate, mas matigas nang kaunti.
Anyway, I think of House of Minis should have created a brand extension for their food court stalls na lang since ibang iba yung feel ng main branch nila from their food court.
I think you can ask naman for a separate gravy. :) I like mine pure too but nilagyan nila kaagad but then again, I didn't stop them either. :)
saw your write up na! :) she does look very nice. wow swerte, we didn't see her in our visit
bang for the bucks indeed. however i see the steak similar to the sizzling plate found in foudcourt. Mini's is just thicker but twice the price. do they serve steaks on a separate gravy? i personally don't like mine swimming with gravy. the way i eat a steak is that my first up to second bite should be pure, then that is when i dip it in the third bite. that way, i can taste the meat without getting spoiled by the sauce.
i like the idea of 'plattering'(or combo-ing)-- main entree packages with antipasto and dolce. :)
hi smarla, kilala ko may ari nyan, si Ms. Ging Sison.. super sarap ng food nila right. check my write up with house of minis and you can see how kind she is.. ^_^
