I Love You with all of My Digital Art

If you're on a tight budget but you have a digital design in mind, then this is the perfect gift idea :) 

I made this digital collage using old photos and some online photos for my mom on Mother's Day. I gave her two big sunflowers that day and gave this as another surprise. :) I worked on Adobe Photoshop btw to make this.


If you don't know how to use Adobe Photoshop, other alternatives include using Paint or Microsoft Powerpoint. Say what? Yes, you can use Powerpoint for layout designs. In fact, for making very simple tarps or invitations, Powerpoint is the way!  Here's how:

When you open Powerpoint, click on "Home" tab, then click "Layout". Under "Layout", choose "Blank" to give you the blank canvas you will need for your design. 

After which, go to "Design" tab and click on the leftmost icon, "Page Setup". The "Page Setup" box will appear on your screen. Then change the dimensions of the document. If you're printing on short bond paper, then adjust the width to 8.5 inches and the height to 11 inches. You can also play around with the orientation of the document. You can choose portrait or landscape.

If you chose those settings, your document will look like this. :) Now, you can insert your own photos from your desktop by clicking on "Insert" tab then clicking the Picture icon. You can then look through your files and select the photo you would like to appear on the document. 

Or you may choose to put in pictures from Microsoft's Clip Art. You can do this by clicking on "Insert" tab and then the "Clip Art" icon. When you do this, a whole tab tray on the right will appear. 


You can click on the "Search in", "Results should be" or "Search for" on the tab tray to filter your results. Then click on "Go". But if you want to see all of the clip art, simply click on "Go" on the tab tray. After which, click on the picture that you like and it will apear on the document.


If you want to insert text, just go back to "Insert" tab and click on "Text box" icon. If you want to put more design on that text, double click on the text box and choices above from the "Design" tab will appear. Feel free to play around. 

You can put more background designs by going to "Design" tab and choosing either from "Background Styles" icon or on the line of themes provided.

Now to save it as a picture file, click on the circular button on the top leftmost with the Microsoft icon. Click on "Save As" button and then select "Other Formats".

This "Save As" box will appear when you do this. From that box, click on "Save As Type" then select from the list. People usually save their files using JPEG so it will not be too heavy for your computer. 


If you're feeling extra artsy, you can put animation on the pictures and text and save the document as powerpoint show. :)
