A Glimpse of My Favorite Chocolate Truffle Pie

I have a confession to make, I've been eating Chocolate Truffle Pie for several consecutive days already.

I've been obsessing over this pie.

In fact, while I'm typing these words, the cake is happily sitting beside me.

10-10-10 Monthsary Gift: Scalloped Potatoes from Scratch

Yesterday it was 10-10-10 day :)

There's an interesting project called One Day on Earth that asks people from all over the world to simultaneously document their own 10-10-10 story in order to create a 10-10-10 world film. I tried documenting my own by taking videos but I don't think my 10-10-10 day was so ground shaking since I had to be stuck at home for more than half the day due to the weather. Booo!

Anyway, since 10-10-10 also meant our monthsary, I decided to cook up something in the kitchen for RJ. We've been eating out a lot so it was a nice change and I just wanted to show him that I can cook (and not just bake)! He's a better cook than I am. :P

I took out my trusty FOOD cookbook and decided to make Scalloped Potatoes from scratch as a monthsary gift. My ate helped me out on this one too so that I can take pictures occasionally.

RJ's Birthday & Fondant Cakes Part 3

In case you weren't able to catch part 1 and part 2 of this three part blog entry click here: part 1 and part 2.

September 10 is a very special date for us since it's a double celebration: RJ's birthday and our monthsary! Since it was a double celebration, I wanted to make it extra special. I baked him a chocolate fondant cake (my first ever! good thing Fred helped me) and treated him out for buffet. I wanted to go for Spirals since that's our dream buffet. After inquiring about their buffet cost per head, I wanted to stab myself with a fork (it's Php2565 per head for Friday dinner). I guess Spirals will just have to wait. Haaay.

RJ's Birthday & Fondant Cakes Part 2

This is part 2 of RJ's Birthday & Fondant Cakes. I posted the first part yesterday, click here!

After a heavy delicious lunch at Balkan Express (I'll write about this soon!), we went back to our Fondant Cake Project. Now it's time to make the fondant part of the cake.

RJ's Birthday & Fondant Cakes Part 1

After much prodding, RJ finally said that his only birthday wish is to blow out birthday candles.

With this in mind, I decided to bake my first ever fondant cake for his birthday. During my crazy grocery day last Monday for his mom's arrival, I already bought the stuff I needed for the birthday cake and the fondant. When I shared my plan to my friend, he suggested baking at Fred's kitchen. Light bulb moment! Good idea friend!

Meet the Parents

Last Sunday, RJ texted me that his mom just arrived. He further added that she brought something for me and that she wanted to meet me for dinner. *insert scary sound effects* Ten ten teeeeeeen! I swear, the first image that came to mind was the movie poster of Ben Stiller's "Meet the Parents."
